However, Buddhism was not completely rejected in Costa Rica. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, the aristocratic and intellectual elite sector received Buddhism positively. In fact, in the country there was the Theosophical Society in Costa Rica, which operated in the country and was popular among the intellectual sector. Some poets who belonged to this group wrote poetry dedicated to Buddha, such as Roberto Brenes Mes\u00e9n and Jos\u00e9 Basileo Acu\u00f1a Zeled\u00f3n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-background\" style=\"background-color:#004f5e;color:#004f5e\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Theosophical Society?<\/h5>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"144\" height=\"154\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sensorialsunsets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Tsseal1875.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11614\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The Theosophical Society is an international organization or fraternity founded in 1875 and related to theosophy. One of them was the Casa Zen of Costa Rica, sponsored by the Japanese Embassy in 1974. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, the Costa Rican Tibetan Cultural Association (ACTC) was founded after the first visit of the Dalai Lama to the country in 1989. In fact, the spiritual leader visited Costa Rica twice: once in 1989 and again in 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Costa Rica, there are Buddhist centers of the five main Tibetan schools: Gelug, Kagyu, Nyyingma, Sakya and B\u00f6n, the Soka Gakkai International, Theravada, Shaolin and a Chinese Buddhist pagoda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sensorial Sunsets<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Catholicism is not the only religion adopted by Costa Ricans.
