AERIS, the airport operator, presented this initiative with the aim of directly connecting the terminal with the neighboring city, turning layovers and waiting times into experiences of authentic discovery.<\/p>\n\n<p>The tour begins at the airport itself and takes participants to some of Alajuela&#8217;s most iconic historical sites. Among the first stops is the Juan Santamar\u00eda Monument, dedicated to the national hero who fought in the Battle of Rivas in 1856, as well as Carlos Luis Fallas Boulevard. Visitors then move on to Central Park, a popular meeting place surrounded by lush mango trees, before entering the Juan Santamar\u00eda Historical and Cultural Museum, where exhibits and stories delve into regional history. The tour concludes at Tom\u00e1s Guardia Square.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The proposal brings together students, artisans, and entrepreneurs from Alajuela.<\/h3>\n\n<p>The tours are led by students from the Hospitality and Gastronomy program at the National Technical University (UTN), who gain practical experience while sharing their knowledge. They highlight details that enrich the visit, from anecdotes about the independence struggles to local customs. During the tour, travelers enjoy samples of specialty coffees grown in the area and presentations of folk dances that reflect Costa Rica&#8217;s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n<p>One of the stops on the tour is the Alajuelense Artisans&#8217; Shop, located in Tom\u00e1s Guardia Square, where handmade products are displayed and sold. These links make it possible to formalize small businesses, generate employment, and increase the canton&#8217;s appeal to tourists.
