Book and author festival to be held on Saturday, February 14, and Sunday, February 15, 2026

On February 14 and 15, Avenida Escazú will be the meeting point for book and art lovers with the fourth edition of BOOKAFEST. The event is an open book fair that celebrates the country’s independent literary and cultural talent.

BOOKAFEST has established itself as a creative space that is held annually with the aim of giving visibility to authors, independent bookstores, and creative ventures, allowing the public to get to know the creators, the stories behind each book or article, and purchase works at affordable prices directly from their authors.

Sustained growth edition after edition

Since its first edition, BOOKAFEST has shown remarkable growth. BOOKAFEST 2023 debuted with 19 stands showcasing 36 projects. In 2024, the event expanded its reach with 24 stands and 47 participating projects. For BOOKAFEST 2025, the fair broke all records with 50 stands, 73 projects, and more than 2,300 attendees, establishing itself as one of the most important independent cultural events on the annual calendar.

What does BOOKAFEST 2026 offer?

For its 2026 edition, BOOKAFEST will offer a free-access space, open to the general public. During the event, literary works and art items will be sold and promoted, with the direct participation of their creators.

BOOKAFEST also seeks to encourage writing and reading nationwide, promoting interaction between the public and exhibitors in a friendly and dynamic environment.

This year, there will be 45 stands and more than 55 exhibitors, mostly independent projects, collectives, bookstores, and ventures related to art, illustration, stationery, bookbinding, and other creative expressions.

Cultural recognition

This fourth edition has been declared of cultural interest by the Ministry of Culture and Youth, granted by Executive Agreement No. 184-C, dated October 7, 2025, which recognizes the cultural and artistic value of the event within the national scene.
