Preámbulo presents: African and Diaspora Cinema

Preámbulo presents: Stories that transcend borders
This month, Preámbulo invites the public to be part of a special edition dedicated to African and diaspora cinema, a powerful window to explore diverse, powerful, and deeply human narratives. From Thursday, the 8th, to Saturday, the 10th, the theater will become a meeting place for stories that cross continents, identities, and times. The program includes short and feature films from South Africa, Senegal, France, Benin, Nigeria, and Costa Rica, all with free admission.
Preamble: schedule
Thursday, August 8 – 7:00 p.m.
The exhibition begins with two works that intertwine pain, memory, and healing.
- Today I Kill God (Kofi Zwana, South Africa, 13 min, +18) is an intense fiction film about a grieving mother confronted with structural violence.
- Next up is Dahomey (Mati Diop, Senegal, France, Benin, Singapore, 68 min, TP), an award-winning documentary that takes a critical and poetic look at the repatriation of treasures looted by European colonialism.

Friday, 9th – 7:00 p.m.
An evening dedicated to fiction and the exploration of community and family ties.
- B(l)ind the Sacrifice (Nakhane Touré, South Africa, 22 min, +18) chronicles the life of a nomadic family led by a character as magnetic as he is enigmatic.
- Next, Old Righteous Blues (Muneera Sallies, South Africa, 99 min, TP) takes us into a community that finds refuge and an act of daily resistance in choral music.

Saturday, October 10 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The day kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with a classic Costa Rican documentary film:
- Black People in Costa Rica (Guillermo Munguía Hernández, 1977, 37 min, TP), an essential piece for understanding the history and contributions of the Afro-descendant population in Limón.
At 7:00 p.m., the closing features two works that explore time, desire, and social wounds:
- Undo (Kofi Zwana, South Africa, 7 min, +18), a short story about time loops and relationships trapped in the past.
- Freedom Way (Afolabi Olalekan, Nigeria, 83 min, +18), a drama about the frustrations and hopes of a generation faced with broken promises from the state.

Preámbulo celebrates the richness of African cinema and the diaspora, offering a platform for voices that question, move, and open new horizons for reflection.
All functions are free of charge.
- Functions marked with TP (All Audiences) are suitable for all ages.
- Features marked with +18 are exclusively for adults.
