El Sótano and Amón Solar

El Sótano belongs to the Amón Solar project, which is dedicated to promoting cultural activities in the capital city of San José.

This project was born in 2013 with the purpose of promoting art and culture.

The idea is to break down the barriers between art and the spectator and bring them closer to new artistic proposals, taking into account any format: theater, dance, music, cinema, etc.

This is how Amón Solar takes as its space a neoclassical house built in the 1930s in Barrio Amón. El Sótano represents the most underground and experimental artistic expression; it is a perfect intimate space to enjoy jazz and to conceive music as art and not as a product.
