Strawberry National Fair 2026

The community of Vara Blanca is preparing to celebrate the 14th edition of the National Strawberry Fair, which will take place from April 30 to May 3, 2026. Over four days, this renowned strawberry-growing region in Costa Rica will become the epicenter of local culture, cuisine, and agricultural tradition.
A traditional start
The events will begin on Thursday, April 30, at noon, in front of the town’s Catholic church. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on the main stage, where various cultural performances will also take place throughout the evening.
From Friday, May 1, through Sunday, May 3, the fair will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., offering a wide-ranging program designed for visitors of all ages.
A varied program for the whole family
The event will feature a diverse lineup showcasing the best of local production and regional talent. Highlights include:
- Exhibition by local strawberry growers
- Tasting of strawberry dishes and products
- Craft sale
- Exhibitions of modified 4×4 vehicles and overlanding
- Equestrian shows
- Recreational activities and children’s entertainment
- Free mobile photography workshop open to the public
One of the most anticipated events will be the making of a giant strawberry cake, along with contests such as the biggest strawberry, the best strawberry dessert, and a strawberry-eating contest.



A special tribute
On Friday, May 1, as part of International Workers’ Day, a special program will be held to honor those who drive the development of the community and the region’s agricultural economy.
Free admission and a living tradition
Admission to the fair will be completely free. The organizers have confirmed that parking spaces will be available and that safety measures will be in place to ensure a pleasant experience for all attendees.
Over the years, the National Strawberry Fair has established itself as a local tradition that not only celebrates one of the area’s main products but also promotes rural economies and highlights the region’s agricultural wealth.
