The Bijagual waterfall is an ideal day trip because it is less than an hour and a half from San Jose. It is located on the border between San José and Puntarenas. To get here, take Route 27 and turn off the Interamerican Highway for approximately 20 minutes to the entrance of the park. The road is suitable for any vehicle and has parking, reception and bathroom facilities.

This waterfall is one of the highest in Costa Rica and to reach it you have to walk a quiet trail in the middle of the biodiversity of the tropical forest. Also, you have the possibility to take a relaxing bath in the pools that are formed in this place.

The walk to the Chindama waterfall is an experience that anyone should live. To get there it takes 3 hours and you must cross the tropical rainforest, climb walls and the Mercedes River, crystal clear water and cold temperature. The waterfall is wonderful with many stones and lots of green around it.

The waterfall is one of the highest in the Caribbean area and one of the most beautiful in Guápiles. Any vehicle can be left in the parking lot, but preferably a high one.

Please note that it is a 10 km round trip and that the difficulty is very high due to the roads and rivers that must be crossed.

La Leona Waterfall

It is located in Guanacaste, in the town of Curubandé. It is a place of beautiful views with crystal clear turquoise pools. During the tour, you will see a stone canyon, caves and small waterfalls until you reach the main canyon where the Leona waterfall is located. Here there is also a small pebble beach where you can rest from the hike.

To reach this place, take the Interamerican Highway North. When you pass Liberia, after 10 minutes turn right towards Rincón de la Vieja; when you arrive at Curubandé, turn left: you will see the Rafas Adventures signs.

Oropendola Waterfall

The Oropendola waterfall is on the slopes of the Rincón de la Vieja volcano. Take route 1 towards the northern border and, 15 minutes after passing Liberia, turn right towards Rincón de la Vieja. Afterwards, drive for half an hour until you reach the Hacienda Guachipelín Hotel.

One thing to keep in mind is that access to the waterfall is only available to people staying at the hotel.

The place has parking lot and the walk is 700 meters to the waterfall. The trail is deep in the tropical forest. When you arrive at your destination, you will see a turquoise waterfall with crystal clear water.
